Archilego :: Fallingwater!

I'm back with a new Archilego post, my LEGO architecture series that showcases recreations of famous landmarks and buildings around the world...made entirely out of LEGOs!

     

    Over the past three years, I've showcased Frank Lloyd Wright's masterpieces countless times.  After reading the biography on him way back in seventh grade, I saw a wide variety of his work, but my favorite was definitely Fallingwater, a house in the forests of Pennsylvania that uses a waterfall as the focal point of the home.

    Wright initially planned on building it around the main waterfall, but he later decided to build Fallingwater on top of it!  He didn't want the family to just look at the waterfall...Wright wanted them to live in it.  Using the terrain as his canvas, he created an amazing structure that emphasizes the beginning of a new era in modern architecture.  Wright was the pioneer of this new era.

      Of course, you can easily expect that a house this famous would be turned into a LEGO project, right?  Yes!  Designed by Adam Reed Tucker, this set has 811 pieces.  You can buy the LEGO set yourself for roughly $100...and build it yourself.  What more could you ask for? :D

Archilego | The White House

I haven't ever thought about a lego White House, but sure enough there is one out there.  And I think this one looks awesome!

This is really cool.  I never thought I would be interested in lego architecture, but seeing something like legos being put together to make an architectural marvel is amazing.  I will be posting a lot more of these to show how great legos are and how legos can be used to make great pieces of architecture!  For more pictures and information on lego architecture, click here.

Archilego | Burj Khalifa

Welcome to this installment of Archilego.  Today's lego recreation is the Burj Khalifa in Dubai.  As you know it is the tallest building in the world, and it stands at 2,717 feet.  The lego recreation is 18 feet.  Although it isn't as tall as the real Burj, it is one of the tallest lego recreations!

Archilego | Neuschwanstein

Archilego is proud to present Neuschwanstein Castle in Legoland California!  Today's Archilego features a recreation of a magnificent castle in Europe.

This last picture is a photo of the real Neuschwanstein Castle.  The lego recreation is suprisingly spot on!  You can find more information about the real Neuschwanstein Castle at wikipedia.org.



Archilego || Mount Rushmore

Welcome to Legoland Mount Rushmore!  This Mount Rushmore recreation in Legoland, San Diego is amazing.  The recreation is made of small, little legos that make up an entire design.  If you look closely, lego workers are swabbing one of the president's ears!  He does need his ears cleaned.

Archilego || New York City

  I'm back to Archilego, and tonight I am going to show you a lego city.  New York City with legos to be exact.

What you can do with legos is really amazing, and just so you know, these buildings are a lot taller than you think.

A person had to put each little piece to make this totally awesome!  Legos are a great way to show your creativity in architecture!

Welcome to Archilego

Welcome to Archilego, my LEGO posts.  For this first post, I will be showing you LEGO Land in San Diego, California.  Every single skyscraper, building, and even a lifesize car is all made from Lego's!

In fact, I've been to Lego Land myself, and these lego structures continue to amaze me.  Imagine how many hours it would take to build one of these Lego buildings.

You can pretty much build anything with Lego's.
